What I Wanted to Tell You - A Novel
Sarda Edition | 2025
A woman with a lot to say, an opinion, and backbone to boot? A not-so-easy life. “What I Wanted to Tell You” tells the story of a talkative, passionate, and quick-witted young woman. Monika, an executive secretary in a small Viennese company with an overbearing boss, is at the center of a story that takes unexpected turns as she organizes a business dinner. As she navigates these professional challenges, she not only encounters the limitations of event planning but also uncovers deeper, hidden facets of the characters.
“What I Wanted to Tell You” is a novel that inspires reflection on authenticity, the courage to swim against the tide, and the impact of personal determination.
The novel “What I Wanted to Tell You” is based on the play “Good Luck, Foreigner!”, which won the Exil Dramatists’ Prize in 2008 and premiered in Vienna. The play was first adapted into the German novel “Mein Name ist Monika” (My Name is Monika), then into a three-part mini-novel version for Croatian learners, before finally being translated into English.
